Introduction
Department of Special education in Pusan National University was founded in March 1995 to foster special education teachers and related professionals who help students needed special educational support overcome their disabilities and adjust to the society through realizing individualized education. The educational program is designed to train highly qualified special education teachers and professionals in this field through building the character and knowledge suited to education for students with disabilities.
Educational objects are as follows :
1. to have the character and qualification to be a special education teacher.
2.to understand the developmental and personal characteristics for children/ students who need a special educational support.
3. to have a specialized knowledge on a subject.
4. to understand and make use of effective teaching method.
5. to understand research trend for pedagogy and a course of study.
6. to take an interest and understanding for education field.
7. to take an interest and understanding for globalization, information-oriented education.

01. What is special education?
Special education is to teach or facilitate the learning ability and social adjustment skills of children/ students who have one or more difficulties in education cognitive, psycho-social, communicative, sensory and physical functions providing educational supports used in regular education through special educational method and service.
02. Education fields?
Special education curriculum is composed of theoretical contents and teaching methods in the fields of each disabilities(visual, hearing, intellectual, physical, emotional-behavioral disabilities) based on an introduction to special education, development psychology. - elementary education course : elementary subjects(Korean, English, mathematics, art, science, ethics, music, physical education) and areas of interest. - secondary education course : selection of areas of interest
